![]() All of the characters, although purposefully blocky, seem extremely organic. Even on my 3G, the animation is silky smooth and incredibly vibrant. The real star of the show, other than the funny plot which I won't spoil for you, is the games graphics. I could see a shotgun coming in a later update, but it certainly does not seem necessary. The guns are limited to a machine gun, a flame thrower, and a rocket launcher, but any more would honestly seem unnecessary. ![]() Some games in the genre deal with ammo, but the kind folks at Angry Mob decided to just forego that and let you rain terror on everything around you with unlimited everything. You get a stick on the left that moves you around and a stick on the right that aims and shoots your gun at the same time. There are only seven real levels and a survival madness level up to this point (unlockable after you've beaten the game), so the content is a bit lite, but the levels provided have some really great moments that have never been done in other games in the genre.įor those of you who have never played a dual-stick shooter before, the premise is quite simple. The levels aren't incredibly long, but they do have their own individual feel that makes them seem like their own entity. Each level has a beginning and an end, complete with hidden pathways, secret power-ups, and bosses at the end. Instead of following the path that was originally paved with iDracula, Guerrilla Bob has actual levels that are path based rather than open ended. a wonderfully designed shooter that is certain to be a crowd pleaser. Chillingo, with iDracula and Minigore already sitting in their impressive game catalogue, have really taken control of the dual-stick shooter market with Guerrilla Bob. There have been so many dual-stick shooter hits on the iPhone that I'm wondering why every developer doesn't have one. Local multiplayer is available through split-screen (Macintosh, Windows) or on a single device (iPad).Certain genres just work so well on iDevices, and dual-stick shooters are one of them. The store of the Mercenary mode is also used in the latter.Īll platforms offer cross-platform cooperative multiplayer games through WiFi. There is a regular Survivor mode and a wave-based one called Wave Attack. It consists of a single area where the player needs to survive as long as possible. Some of these weapons are also available in the Arcade mode, but there they are found through pick-ups while playing. ![]() The modes are identical in level design, but in the latter enemies leave behind money that can be used in an in-game store to acquire new weapons and upgrade existing ones. The main game modes are Arcade and Mercenary, both with two difficulty levels. ![]() Health can also be restored and medals provide extra points. Other power-ups are time-limited and offer faster movement speed, armor or more damage. There are also power-ups that improve the existing weapons permanently. Weapons have an unlimited amount of ammo, but sometimes require a cooldown time. The available weapons acquired while playing include a machinegun, timed bombs, molotov cocktails, shotgun, double uzis, flamethrower, rocketlauncher, grenadelauncher, sticky bow, and chaingun. Switching between weapons can be done at any time Players control the character's movement and the direction of the firing. Choosing one of the four available characters (not all of them are available right away), the player moves him through cities to shoot down enemies, break through barriers and fight a boss at the end of each level. Guerrilla Bob is a third-person shooter shown from an almost top-down perspective.
